Description
With these lessons about digraphs, you’ll teach your scholars that two letters can represent one unexpected sound. The letter sounds we know for letters c, h, s, t have no bearing on the digraph sounds for c-h, t-h, and s-h. Kids will come to see each of these letter combinations as a unit representing a new sound. They’ll decode and encode lots and lots of words, sorting them according to the digraphs they see and hear—which promotes orthographic mapping. You’ll name the letters, make the sounds, and do the motions to promote automatic recall. Additional instructional materials include how open syllables work.
