Description
This is it. Your students know most every consonant sound, and those vowel sounds are mastered. It’s time to show your kids that they are ready to read. You’ll demonstrate the left to right movement across words, making the sounds, and sliding those sounds together until we recognize a word we know. Though it’s only the foundation, it’s also first magical step on the path to becoming a READER! Your students will decode lots and lots of words featuring each vowel sound. They’ll also be introduced to some irregularly spelled words such as was, put, and as. They’ll also learn that when we have two of the same letters, side by side, the letters represent only one sound (e.g., egg, kiss, buzz).
